Becky Rix
Welcome to my world of botanical Bas relief and sculpture.
I have always had a huge passion for art and nature, as a small child growing up in rural Suffolk my favourite place to be was in the garden surrounded by flowers, and usually with a sketchbook in my young hand.
I was lucky enough to study Natural history illustration at college and after 2 kids returned to my great love of flower painting in 2022!
After gaining my own studio I am now found happily working away on my botanical plaster work.
A wonderful fusion of sculpture and painting, an art-form that captures the beauty of nature, concentrating on composition and plant structure.
I love how this art captures the fragility of plants and freezes them in time for ever more.
I enjoy pushing the boundaries, using items that offer tactile texture and shape, whether that be a beautiful foxglove, a spiralling shell or a fragile piece of old lace.
Current projects are works based on the coast, and antique farming equipment.
I also experiment in finishing mediums including pigments, acrylics, rust, and cyanotype iron salts.
Always interested in gallery spaces, exhibition collaborations and live demos.
